I am Water

 

I have been trying 

to stand straight in the world.

but I do not have

a man’s broad shoulders

and thrusting chest.

 

I am water

seeping, dripping, weeping,

rising, surging, flowing,

 

cascading down mountains

carrying away rocks and trees

flooding valleys

reforming lanscapes

carving out beaches 

redefining the shoreline .

 

Why did I imagine

anything else

when each month

a red river runs

through me

as evidence?
